Wealth Pile Found in Dheeraj Sahu's Residence Sparks Congress Inquiry
In a surprising turn of events, Congress Rajya Sabha MP Dheeraj Sahu is under scrutiny after a significant amount of unaccounted wealth was discovered at his residences. The counting of notes, found in 136 bags, is ongoing four days after the initial discovery, raising eyebrows and prompting Congress to question its own leader.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh clarified that there is no connection between Dheeraj Sahu's business activities and the Indian National Congress. He emphasized that income tax officials are currently counting a substantial amount of cash seized from Sahu's properties, and the party is seeking clarity on the matter.
Political Fallout:
Dheeraj Sahu's newfound wealth has ignited a political storm in Jharkhand, with BJP leaders claiming that the seized money belongs to Congress leaders, while Congress members argue it is linked to BJP leaders. BJP MP Sanjay Seth claimed that so far, 300 crores have been seized, and despite malfunctioning machines, the counting process is ongoing. He called on Rahul and Sonia Gandhi to explain the source of the money, raising concerns about its legitimacy.
Jewelry in Suitcases:
In addition to the cash, jewelry was discovered in three suitcases, adding to the complexity of the situation. The total amount seized from Dheeraj Sahu's locations is reported to have reached a staggering 300 crores, marking the largest cash seizure in a single operation by any agency to date.
Bank Operations:
The counting process involves 50 employees of the State Bank of India in Balangir, with regional manager Bhagat Behera stating that they are working diligently to achieve their goal within two days. The counting extends to other locations, including Titilagarh, where some money has also been counted. Income tax and police departments have implemented full security measures in bank sectors.
Massive Seizure:
Sources indicate that this operation against a specific group and affiliated organizations is the largest cash seizure in the country. Approximately 300 crores were seized from 8-10 safes in the company's premises in Balangir district, with additional amounts confiscated from Titilagarh, Sambalpur, and Ranchi.
The unfolding events have thrust Dheeraj Sahu and the Congress party into the spotlight, prompting calls for a thorough investigation into the source of the seized cash and jewelry.
